First off, thank you for this, much appreciated, since it looks like this great show is rather short on fansubs.
However, I must point out a little defect: the framerate is set to 25fps, whereas the original video was 24 (or, more likely, 23.976) fps. As a consequence, every second there’s a duplicated frame that looks like a small hitch. It’s most noticeable during smooth camera pans.
Hope you can take care of it for future releases!

Hmm, I thought the choppiness was caused because the encoder merely did a framerate conversion from 29.97 fps to 23.97 fps instead of deinterlacing. There was a discussion about the whole thing on IRC yesterday.

I don’t think you have to deinterlace it, you’d only have to do that if the raws showed combing artifacts (tiny horizontal lines). Usually the raws come deinterlaced already.
I think it sort of is the raw’s fault: it seems that it’s 30fps, which means every 5 frames one is repeated, like this:
FFFFRFFFFRFFFFR…
The problem is that if you use a simple conversion to 24fps, you might end up killing real frames (F) and leaving the repeated frames (R), this makes it look extra jerky since some frames show the right time, some twice, and some disappear. To make matters worse, it’s not unusual for the pattern to change from scene cut to scene cut…
I don’t remember very well but this could be sort of fixed automatically, there are AviSynth framerate conversion filters that are smart abut this and try to detect and remove the duplicated frames. I think it can be done by just placing Decimate() on the script, using the plugin from http://neuron2.net/decomb/decombnew.html
I’m sure you’ll figure it out if you haven’t already. And if you don’t, perhaps it’s better to release 30fps in the meantime, since it’s less bad than a direct conversion IMHO.
Also, I’m curious about the first episode: was it a different raw? Because even if it was 25fps and it had a repeated frame every second, it didn’t have the other problem…

only the 1st ddl was working, ut their sever sucks and dropped me part way thru. and the torrents have no seeds. i would love to check out your version, as i am not too happy with the tl i have, and i love your work on eve. anyone know if these have even been put onto another tracker with seeds? if i have to i guess i’ll wait til it goes to boxT, though iwould rather get it before then.

I’m now seeding all the H264 torrents (except ep 2, since it’s a V2, don’t have the original file anymore), but because the tracker is offline you will have to turn on DHT, then you’ll certainly find some seeds.

i would re-install your codecs. best bet is something like CCCP or one of the other packs out there (many “light” packs even have worked well for me in the past). google CCCP or combined community codec pack. It comes with zoom and media player classic (my first choice. istay away from vlc player (even tho it has codecs in it) because it includes notes from translation group with the subs, and just botches subs in general.
i would highly suggest uninstalling your existing codecs or codec pack first.

I don’t have any beef with patches per se, but the program you’ve used won’t run on Linux. It’s also in some weird proprietary format, which means I’m stuck with v1 for two episodes
I’d be very grateful if you could either seed a new torrent, or use GnuWin32 or UnxUtils to provide a patch everyone can use.

We’ll announce whether or not to pickup Decode 02. If you browse around our news posts, you’ll learn that we’re an active club with lots of on-ground activities and fansubbing is just one of the many things we do.

Wait, it says motion pictures. Someone can’t think straight??I don’t recall Birdy having motion pictures (unless you want to call the OVA’s as such).
And I must reckon the fact, that english ain’t my first language, but certainly my english makes more sense than the english used by Aniplex’s representative. God, you must love lawyers and such…They can’t even write a warning right.
