Welcome to the all-new EMiNA website! Bask in our glorious and silky-smooth Web 2.0 look and feel. Our website has been a key landmark in our online presence as a one-stop resource for society news, updates and events coverage. We decided to migrate to an independent server to provide you with faster connectivity and an easier URL to remember.

Here’s a neat trick you can try now that we’re using this new address: in all browsers, simply type ‘eminacyber’ and hit Ctrl+Enter. It will add the ‘http://www.’ and ‘.com’ automatically. Try it

Even better still, hostel residents [or people surfing within the campus intranet] can simply type ‘eminacyber’ and just hit Enter!

Well now. Finally, the site is up. That’s awesome in itself. Now we have a reliable place to post updates, news and anything and everything related to anime and EMiNA. But as of now, the site is still under construction. So to all the hi-comm members who received notice from Fazri a.k.a Silencers, visit the site and give us input. You can post them as a comment. Tak payah susah-susah.

The basic template is up, and it’s looking good. Kudos to Fazri for that. But there’s still much more to be done before we can announce the existence of the site to our members. And I’d like the work to be done before week 3 begins. I know we have a tight schedule and all, but I hope we can do a speedy job and keep our members informed.

I’ve done the necessary coding for the archive and single pages. Before you put a stake into my chest, pour gasoline on me and toss me a lit Zippo lighter, let me first tell you that I didn’t build this site to be super-chun cross-browser compatible.

It looks utterly stupid in IE6

I coded this with reference to Firefox. It looks okay in Opera, so I’m happy with that. Besides, any Emina club member who STILL uses IE deserves a kick to the groin to bring the poor fellow back to reality. We don’t use blue or red pills, here.

Anyway, hi-comm members should be made authors of the site so they can contribute any content or make any announcements. Then we can have a proper About page and write a bit of info about each other blablabla….

I was going to make the graphics that I mentioned earlier, but I figured i’d leave it to you guys. Over and out

As you can see, now the rounded edges work for the content and footer [yay!]. As for the sidebar, I can’t get it to extend all the way to the bottom so i’m leaving it without a background colour so it blends with the body background.

Practically, the front page is done. Now to code the single page and archive pages so it displays correctly.

What the site really needs, is written content, lol. I’ll wait for that.

As for graphics here’s what you guys need to make

• a proper header image [keep it clean and professional, please. nothing otaku-crazed]
• title graphics for ‘search’, ‘archive’, ‘categories’, and ‘meta’ Done :p I couldn’t stand looking at it like that.
• a little graphic for the content’s header, perhaps? like ‘News and Updates’ or something

Okay, As far as design is concerned, I think I’ve managed to get the blocks to align and margin as I intended it to. Text sizes shouldn’t be a problem, either.

As for the sidebar, I’m trying to give it a gradient background. My first attempt gave it a rather harsh gradient. Second try gives me this. Somehow I think of scrapping the gradient Idea because we might want to use graphic headers for ‘categories’ ‘archive’ and so on.
As for individual pages, I suggest that we input the links manually instead of relying on the php script – i’d rather not mess with those.

What I really want to do at the moment is to get the content and footer divs to have rounded corners. I tried several diff methods but I couldn’t really pull it off that well. There is a method to do it without using images, but so far it doesn’t seem to work :p

Will someone please design a better header to replace my half-hearted job of making one?
